I Like Bananas...

And apparently so does Alex who turned ONE this weekend. How exciting! A special birthday calls for a special cake and here it is.

Alex is a proud owner of a stuffed duck, an elephant, a giraffe, and monkey so in order to tie in one of his favourite things I worked to display one of them on his cake. The monkey won by a long shot. Not to mention that a giraffe recently made a cake cameo and I felt Alex deserved his own star.

Party colours were themed in greens, baby blues and yellows which seemed to work well with Mr. Monkey and the cake flavour selected was chocolate with raspberry buttercream. Now that I think about it...banana cake with chocolate buttercream would have been awesome and SO appropriate...but too late for that!

Anyways, happy birthday Alex! Maybe next year Mr. Elephant will join the party!
