A new year brings with it opportunities to start over. To reprioritize, implement new strategies, focus on new goals, and in general, follow a new path in order to make us better people (if only in our own eyes). Then again, there are those of us who choose to remain the same - which is fine. But just remember, your rewards in life are directly proportional to the risks you take. And if you don't take that first step, you'll never know how far you could've made it. Just something I've been thinking a lot about these past few weeks as I contemplate my own path.
Anyhow, January initially promised to be slow and steady, but I quickly learned that the universe abhors a vacuum. And where you think you have breathing room, something will inevitably come in and fill that void! So besides catching up on social activities, I've been busy planning my weekends for the entire YEAR. How's that for planning ahead?
One of my projects this month was a baptism cake for Noah. His mom Jen was referred by another client and contacted me a couple of weeks ago to see if I could work this into my schedule. Jen wanted the cake to take on a more contemporary look, but still include some minimal religious symbology. So I kept with the "less is more" theme, choosing only to include a cross and statement to identify the cake as a baptism cake. The selected colours of brown, blue and white were also chosen to bring a modern colour element into it. I must say, I'm glad Jen picked these three as I love the colour combo!
All in all, it's been a busy weekend with ups and downs, but Noah's cake was definitely an "up". Hope the day was memorable for both Noah and his family.

Thank you so much, Diane, for making the most beautiful cake for Noah's Baptism. It was the centre piece on our table as well as quite the conversation piece. The cookies and cream cake with oreo crumb buttercream is a delicious combination!
We thoroughly enjoyed sharing this special cake with our family. Thanks for your hard work in creating a stunning masterpiece. We will definitely contact you again soon!
