The Moose is Loose

FACT: Moosehead Breweries Ltd. is the oldest and largest surviving independent Canadian brewery spanning 6 generations. It's currently based in Saint Johns, NB.

FACT: Moosehead Pale Ale officially hit the markets in 1931.

FACT: Through a series of different brews, Moosehead beer was brought to life by a WOMAN in 1867. Oh ya.

There's your history lesson for the day. See - blogs can be educational.

Moving on. Andy is celebrating his 25th birthday today. Actually, I think the big day was yesterday, but the festivities were reserved for a birthday/Mother's Day tag team event today.

Andy's mom requested a special cake to celebrate her son's milestone birthday and in conversations about his interests and likes it was uncovered that Andy likes to drink beer. Not an unusual hobby for a 25 year old!

Initially we were going to model the cake after the beer bottle itself, but from there the project morphed into a replica of the logo and finally to the logo on a cake featured as a bottle cap.

I have to say I really enjoyed working on this project. It was fun. And once I had wrapped it all up it even took on a rustic undertone which made me want to hang it on my wall. O.k. not quite, but it did look cool.

The inside of this cake was the infamous cookies and cream which apparently is Andy's favourite. Happy birthday Andy! Hope you got to celebrate with the real deal as well.

Cheers!
