Madeleine's Confirmation

These cupcakes were made in celebration of Madeleine's confirmation which took place today. Surprisingly, this is only the second time I've been asked to take part in a confirmation event and both times the recipients have asked for something a little different than the typical religious symbology.

In fact, Madeleine herself took an active role in this order and specifically requested "fluffy" icing. Since all my cakes are covered in fondant, the next best thing was cupcakes which would give her exactly that.

Madeleine chose a selection of vanilla cupcakes with raspberry buttercream and chocolate cupcakes with mint chocolate buttercream. Some were adorned with purple butterflies and white flowers, others with pink flowers or vertical crosses, and a few were simply monogrammed.

And lucky for me, there were a few extras kicking around after the order was filled. Breakfast of champions? Probably not. But trust me, a cupcake can taste darn good at 9:00 am!
