It seems almost rare in this day and age with the current statistics on divorce and the average age of marriage increasing, but long lasting love does exist out there. My godparents just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and I was given the honour of making the cake for their celebratory party. The design was kept white and simple with only a bit of gold accenting in the flowers as requested by one of their daughters.
Additionally, a custom cake topper was designed in the likeness of the couple when they first married (based on an old wedding photo). However, this was only to be displayed next to the cake.
The topper was created by artist Nicole Clark and it was absolutely amazing. Everything from the dress to the flowers and physical features were very detailed and you could tell a lot of time went into making it. I wouldn't hesitate to use her for future weddings. If you're a soon-to-be married couple or looking for a unique gift for someone this would be a fantastic keepsake.
