New Beginnings

This weekend's cake belongs to Stephanie and Cory who tied the knot today! Their event took place at a local golf course and was themed in blue and purple with butterflies being the predominate symbol.

Over the past couple of months butterflies have seemed to play a more significant role in my life so I secretly smiled when I placed the last one on their cake. In some cultures, butterflies are linked to the human soul whereas in others they represent a long life. Interestingly enough, in Japan they sometimes represent marital bliss which is quite fitting in this case.

Whatever meaning you derive from them, one thing is for certain. Butterflies are symbolic of change. For what the caterpillar perceives as the end, to the butterfly is only the beginning...

Congratulations Stephanie and Cory as I leave you with this little Irish blessing:

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun,
